Question: How many sessions on average does it take to remove the hair ?

Answer: 6 - 10 sessions.


Question: Why does it take this many sessions ?

Answer: Hair growth is in three stages. Anagen, Catagen and Telogen. The hair needs to be removed in the Anagen phase when the root is attached to the blood supply.


Question: What exactly is laser hair removal ?

Answer: A procedure which removes hair from the body utilising a long pulse laser. Laser heat disables follicles from producing hair. Hair grows in three cycles therefore you need 6 - 10 treatments at intervals of 6 weeks to disable most of the follicles in a given area.


Question: Am I a candidate for laser hair removal ?

Answer: Both Men and Women seek laser to remove unwanted hair. It works best on pale skin and dark coarse hair.


Question: Is laser hair removal painful ?

Answer: Laser hair removal is not much more painful than waxing, although the sensation is different.


Question: Can I just reduce hair density ?

Answer: Yes, this would involve 3 - 4 sessions as opposed to 6 - 10 sessions.


Question: What should I expect before and after laser treatments ?

Answer: Patients should not wax or remove hair from the root 6 weeks prior to the first session. The area should be shaved 1 - 2 days prior. Treatments are quick, for example both underarms take about 5 minutes. Hair sheds within 3 weeks following treatments, when this happens, exfoliate and rub gently in the shower.
